Heritage Restoration Services
I work hands-on with historic buildings across South Australia, using traditional methods that are suited to heritage structures.
A lot of the issues I see come from the wrong materials being used — especially cement mortars on older buildings. My approach is to use the right materials so the building can breathe and perform properly long-term.

Heritage Repointing (Lime Mortar)
Removing failed or cement-based mortar and repointing using traditional lime mortars that allow the building to breathe.
This prevents moisture build-up and long-term damage — one of the most common issues I see in older buildings.
Decorative Plaster Restoration
Repairing and restoring decorative plaster elements such as cornices, ceiling roses and heritage features.
All work is carried out to match existing detail and bring original features back properly — not just patched.

Lime Render & Plastering
Application of traditional lime renders using lime putty and appropriate sand blends to suit the building.
This allows the structure to breathe while achieving a finish that matches the original work.
Salt Damage & Fretted Stone Repair
Repairing masonry affected by salt attack and moisture movement — often caused by missing or failed damp proofing.
Works may include stabilisation, replacement of damaged stone, and reinstating proper moisture control.

Cement Removal from Heritage Masonry
Carefully removing hard cement-based mortars and renders that are damaging the building.
Cement traps moisture and causes stone to deteriorate — removing it and replacing it with lime-based materials is critical for long-term performance.
How I Approach Heritage Work
Every project is approached with care and attention to detail.
I take the time to understand how the building was originally constructed, identify the cause of any damage, and use materials that work with the building — not against it.
Because if it’s not done properly, it won’t last.
